Toledo AHEPA/Daughters Scholarship Application
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered for a scholarship, subject to the financial feasibility of the awarding organization:
- Both eligible young ladies and young men applicants will be considered for the foregoing scholarships and awards.
- Applicants must be graduating high school seniors (or the recognized equivalent).
- At least one of the applicant’s parents/legal guardians must be a member/steward in good standing for at least two (2) calendar years prior to the due date of this application, of any or all of the following organizations (consideration given for each):
- The Daughters of Penelope Dodona Chapter #24
- The Order of AHEPA Ypsilanti Chapter #118
- Established Christian church in the Toledo area
- Additional consideration will be given to an applicant who is directly a member in good standing (no time limit) of the Maids At Large or Sons At Large.
- ACADEMIC scholarship award recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of a 4.0 GPA scale. AP or honors courses are weighted on a 5-point scale (A = 5 pts, B = 4 pts, C = 3 pts).
- SERVICE scholarship awards will not be awarded based on a minimum GPA.
- All applicants must demonstrate good character, morals and ethics, good leadership ability, and sincere religious and community involvement. Applicants should expound on their service involvement and achievements.
- The successful applicants must enroll in an academic program at an accredited post-secondary institution (as shown on accreditation lists maintained by the U.S. Department of Education), such as a university or college, as a full-time student within six (6) months of the scholarship presentation date and remain enrolled for one (1) full academic year or be subject to refunding the award. The monetary award will be sent directly to the applicant’s post-secondary institution.
- It is recommended that the applicant have the following prepared and in hand to complete the application. The uploaded documents need be in either PDF or Microsoft Word format.
- Completed application including clearly marked attachments
- Official high school transcript
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from non-family members regarding their academic career to date with each recommendation addressing at least two (2) of the following: character, morals, ethics, attitude, initiative, leadership ability, originality, maturity, personality or intelligence. All recommendations should address any service activities as observed by the recommender.
- A typed 300-word essay by you on the applicant’s future education goals and how receiving a scholarship will assist those goals.
- Applicant must ensure the submission of the completed application no later than April 19, 2026, at 11:59 pm EST. There will be no exceptions.
- Recipient must be present to receive this scholarship at the Scholarship Sunday celebration held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
- Scholarship Recipients will only be eligible for ONE award from the Dodona Chapter #24 and ONE award from the Ypsilanti #118 chapter.
- The three Ypsilanti #118 ACADEMIC scholarships will not be awarded to the same person.
- This application is NOT the application for any other scholarship award, such as the Raftopoulos, Philoptochos, AHEPA Buckeye Scholarship Foundation, AHEPA National or the National Daughters of Penelope scholarships. Please consult those organizations directly for their scholarship applications and requirements.
- Applicants must certify the statements in the application are true, and that the information is correct to the best of the applicant’s knowledge. Fabricated information will disqualify the application from consideration.
